Plant lorries we buy
- 7.5 tonne beavertails for mini diggers and access platforms
- 18 and 26 tonne plant lorries for dumpers, rollers and midi excavators
- Eight-wheel beavertails for heavier plant
- Tilt-bed and slide-bed bodies
What we look at
- Ramps: hydraulic or manual, their condition, and whether they’re straight
- Deck: timber or steel, rot, and damage from tracked plant
- Winch and crane: if fitted, whether they work
- Tail and sub-frame: beavertails take knocks, so we check for cracks
- Payload: a good payload makes a plant lorry easier to sell on
Beavertails from plant hire fleets often have high mileage but a good history. Mention that on the form, because it helps.

Anything else? Call or WhatsApp us on 07402 295831.
Do you buy beavertails with damaged ramps?
Yes. Bent, cracked or leaking ramps lower the price but won’t stop us buying. If hydraulic ramps won’t lift or lower, tell us what happens when you work the controls.
Why does payload matter on a plant lorry?
Payload is the plated gross weight minus what the truck and body weigh empty. A heavy steel deck, ramps and a winch all eat into it, and a plant lorry that can’t legally carry the machine it was built for is harder to sell on. Our guide to HGV weights explains more.
Do you buy 7.5 tonne beavertails?
Yes. They’re popular because a 7.5 tonner needs only a C1 licence rather than a full category C licence, and they carry mini diggers, dumpers and access platforms. See selling a 7.5 tonne lorry.
Do you also buy the plant?
Our focus is the trucks. If you’re selling plant as well, send us the details on WhatsApp and we’ll tell you straight away whether we can help.
