Why scrap value is often the lowest price
A scrap yard pays for the weight of metal. But an end-of-life truck is more than metal. The engine, gearbox, axles, cab, body and equipment can all be worth money, either as parts or to an overseas buyer who will put the truck back to work. That’s why we buy end-of-life trucks as trucks, not as scrap.

Paperwork when you sell an end-of-life truck
Because we’re buying the truck rather than destroying it on the spot, you tell DVLA you’ve sold it to a motor trader, as with any other sale. If you’d rather your truck went straight to an authorised treatment facility to be destroyed, that’s a different process, and the facility issues a Certificate of Destruction.
