We buy grab lorries from grab hire firms, groundworkers and waste carriers, from one truck to several. That includes:

• Eight-wheel tipper grabs, the backbone of most grab hire fleets
• Six-wheel grabs and smaller rigid grab loaders
• Grab loaders with a flat or dropside body for skips, bags and bulk materials

The crane is half the value

With a grab, the truck underneath is only part of the story. When we price one we want to know about:

• Crane make, reach and condition: slew, outriggers, hoses, rams and any play in the boom
• The bucket: clamshell or orange-peel, wear on the tines and whether it’s included
• Remote controls and seat: working controls make a real difference to the price
• LOLER inspection: a recent thorough examination report helps, but it isn’t essential
• The chassis and body: grabs live hard lives, so we look closely at chassis condition and floor wear

Selling a grab that doesn’t work

A seized crane, a burst hose or a gearbox fault doesn’t make a grab worthless. Grab lorries in poor condition are still wanted, both for parts and for export. Tell us what’s wrong and we’ll price it as it is, with no surprises at collection.
