Mileage isn’t everything
A car with 300,000 miles is near the end of its life. A heavy truck engine is designed for far more. Long-haul tractor units commonly pass a million kilometres, and many keep going well beyond that. So when we price a high-mileage truck, the mileage is only one factor. We also look at:
- Service history: regular oil changes and dealer servicing matter more than the number on the clock
- Engine work: a recent rebuild or a replacement engine can add a lot of value
- Spec and demand: a well-specced unit is wanted whatever its mileage
- Condition: cab, chassis, tyres and body
- Export potential: many high-mileage trucks are wanted abroad
Miles or kilometres?
Most heavy trucks record kilometres, though some UK trucks show miles. On our form, just type what the dash shows and add “km” or “miles”. If the odometer has been replaced or doesn’t work, say so and type “unknown”.

Is there a mileage limit?
No. We’ve no upper limit. We price on the whole truck, not just the mileage, so a well-maintained truck with big numbers can be worth more than a neglected one with fewer.
What if the odometer doesn’t work?
Type “unknown” in the mileage box and tell us what you know. Service records and tachograph data can help show the mileage.
Does a replacement engine help?
Yes. A recent rebuild or a replacement engine with paperwork can add real value to a high-mileage truck. Tell us when it was done, the mileage at the time and who did the work.
