Why sell rather than re-test?
An HGV annual test (the lorry MOT) can turn up expensive work: brakes, corrosion, emissions or lighting. On an older truck, that bill can be more than the truck is worth to you. Selling it as it stands saves you the repair bill, the test fee and the time off the road.
Trucks we buy with no MOT
- Trucks whose test has expired while they were parked up
- Trucks that have failed the annual test, on one item or many
- Trucks that were taken off the road when an operator licence ended
- Older trucks that aren’t worth re-testing for UK work
What to tell us
- Tick No MOT on the valuation form
- If it failed, tell us what failed. The fail sheet is ideal
- Whether the truck still runs and drives
A truck without a valid test shouldn’t be driven on public roads, except to a pre-booked test. That’s fine: we arrange collection, so you don’t have to move it.

Is an HGV MOT the same as a car MOT?
Lorries have an annual test carried out at a DVSA-authorised testing facility, which most people call the MOT. It’s more detailed than a car MOT and also checks the vehicle’s plated weights.
Will a failed test lower the price?
It depends on what failed. Minor items make little difference, while big repairs reduce the price. Either way, we’ll make an offer.
